Technical Specialist
Mihir Mahajan has extensive experience in various aspects of patent strategy. Most recently, Mihir worked as Director of Product Development at Intellectual Ventures. In this role, Mihir was responsible for mining the patent portfolio, identifying licensing opportunities, and defining prosecution strategy. Prior to this role, Mihir was responsible for working with inventors from prominent Indian universities, startups, and companies. He worked with more than a hundred inventors across technology areas including telecommunications, computer software, computer hardware, and chemistry/materials.
He identified promising ideas and research work and helped inventors prepare corresponding invention disclosures. He was a member of the in-house review team that selected inventions for patenting. Mihir also supervised outside counsel in preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and trained outside patent search firms to improve the quality of their search reports and results.
Prior to IV, Mihir managed a team at an India-based outsourced legal service provider. His responsibilities spanned patent search and analytics, patent brokerage, litigation support, and business research.
Mihir also worked as a research assistant at ApplEcon LLC in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He assisted economic and technical expert witnesses in testimony preparation. This included preparing claim charts, generating liability and damages calculations, in antitrust and patent litigation, and regulatory review.
He received a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, and received a Masters of Science in Information (Information Economics, Management and Policy) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
