Lisa offers two decades of patent practice covering the full scope of intellectual property including patent portfolio development, drafting and prosecuting patents, acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, licensing, agreements, and litigation support. As a previous Senior Patent Attorney for Intellectual Ventures, Lisa conducted in-depth due diligence analysis of patent portfolios, scrutinizing many thousands of patents for risks and devising methods of reducing exposure. Lisa improved efficiencies in strategic procedures to characterize risks in large portfolios. Over a span of seven years, she completed hundreds of patent acquisitions worth many millions of dollars. Lisa’s experience in all aspects of the patent life cycle enables her to generate valuable intellectual property that effectively serves immediate needs and affords future value.

Prior to Intellectual Ventures, Lisa was Intellectual Property Attorney for Boeing Company where she managed a software portfolio of more than 750 U.S. patents. She also negotiated and drafted outbound patent and software licenses and provided intellectual property counseling throughout the company. Lisa’s technical expertise ranges from computing, software, imaging and Internet to medical devices, telemedicine, and biotechnology. As an associate at Blakely, Sokoloff, Taylor and Zafman, Lisa wrote patent applications, office action responses and legal opinions in high technology, software and Internet fields for notable high technology companies in the Silicon Valley, Oregon and Seattle areas. She additionally served as a lead investigating attorney of intellectual property due diligence for a Fortune 100 company’s world-wide mergers and acquisitions. Lisa has counseled businesses, from start-ups to established companies, in creative patent strategies.

Lisa obtained her J.D. degree from Santa Clara University, School of Law where she served as Development Editor for the Santa Clara Computer and High Technology Law Journal. Prior to receiving her law degree, Lisa worked for Hewlett Packard Corporation’s legal department and i.e. DuPont Company. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, 1987, where she conducted research into Parkinson’s disease. Lisa is a member of the state bars of California and Washington and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Lisa has also served as a college adjunct professor in intellectual property law.
